Spinoni date back to at least 500 B.C. Spinoni make good assistance dogs. The Spinone is named after the Pino, a thorny bush where small animals hide. The thick coat of the Spinone allows it to penetrate Pino bushes to hunt this small game. Spinoni are probably descended from either Spanish Pointers or Russian Setters.
