Spinone Rescue Information: The Spinone Italiano is an Italian gun dog. Spinoni are excellent family dogs and are wonderful with children. Spinoni are extremely patient. The Spinone enjoys being with people and other dogs. Spinoni are too friendly to make good guard dogs. Spinoni need a large yard with a high, reinforced fence, as they are talented at jumping over or tunneling under barriers to get out.
Spinone Trivia: Spinoni date back to at least 500 B.C. Spinoni make good assistance dogs. The Spinone nearly died out during World War II. The Spinone is named after the Pino, a thorny bush where small animals hide. The thick coat of the Spinone allows it to penetrate Pino bushes to hunt this small game. Spinoni are probably descended from either Spanish Pointers or Russian Setters.
